How to Find a Post on Facebook

Sometimes, you want to revisit a post you’ve made previously. Other times, you want to see posts on a particular subject matter from other Facebook users. No matter your reason for searching posts, you can do so by following these methods.

Method 1: Use the Search Bar

  • Open the Facebook application on your device or open Facebook.com in a web browser.
  • Go to the Search field located at the top of your screen.
  • Enter a keyword into the search field.
  • Click on the search icon or hit the enter key on your keyboard.
  • The results of the search will pop up. Facebook will provide you with a list of matching results, including people, pages, groups, and photos.
  • Click on the “Posts” tab below the search field at the top of the page. You’ll be provided with a list of all posts matching your search keyword.
  • Filter search results by “Recent Posts,” “Posts You’ve Seen,” “Date Posted,” “Posts From,” and “Tagged Location.”
  • Select the ‘recent posts’ filter if you’re searching for posts from recently. If you’re looking for a post from a particular year, select the ‘date posted’ filter and choose a date from the list.
  • You can use the ‘posts from’ filter to select the person’s post you want to see. Whether it’s the ones you made or those made by your friends, your groups and pages, or public posts.

Method 2: Search Posts You Liked

  • Open the Facebook application on your device or open Facebook.com in a web browser.
  • Head to your profile page. Access your profile page by clicking on your name or profile picture icon next to the home button at the top of your screen.
  • Click the three dots in the lower-right corner of your cover photo. From the options, select “Activity Log.”
  • Click on the activity search field. You’ll find this at the top of your activity log.
  • Enter a search term you can remember from the post.
  • Click the search icon or hit enter on your keyboard.
  • The search result will include all your activities matching your search term. Including your posts, posts by others, posts you were tagged in, and posts you have hidden.
  • The search results will begin with the most recent posts. You can scroll down to see older posts.

Method 3: Search for Posts in a Group

  • Tap on ‘menu’ in the top-right corner of Facebook, then tab ‘Groups.’ Select ‘Your Groups’
  • Facebook will display the list of groups you belong to. Select the one you want to search for the post in.
  • Once opened, click on the search icon in the top-right corner of the group.
  • Enter the key terms of the post you’re searching for.
  • Filter search results by Posts you’ve seenMost recentPosted byTagged location, and Date posted.
