Basically, “Sincerely” means proceeding from real feelings or beliefs. “Dear” as an opening, but as a closing, “yours” is a formality rather than a pledge that is commitment and attachment.

The phrase “sincerely yours” means that the person who sends the correspondence (and the information and sentiments) must have the trust of the receiver.

The language you use or “Sincerely Yours” depends on where you live. If you are American, you can use both “Sincerely Yours” and “Sincerely.” You are free to choose either of these alternatives.

On the other hand, if you are writing in British English, use “Yours Sincerely.”
