Genuine Synonym Guide: Definition and Examples

It can be challenging to choose a similar keyword because numerous words can be substituted for professional. Synonyms come in handy in this situation. A synonym is a term or phrase that expresses the same idea as the original.

Using synonyms allows you to replace the term in question without changing the passage’s meaning as a whole. Let’s look deeper at “genuine,” synonyms, and root words.

What Does Genuine Mean?

Genuine means that something is authentic and genuine, not fake or fabricated. When people say their feelings are genuine, they mean they are honest and true. Genuine things are real.

A product may be called genuine if it has been produced by a company with a reputation for quality, or if a company has made it in compliance with laws and regulations.

The concept of an absolute refers to something that can never be proven false and is universally recognized as truth.

It first appeared late 14c and meant “unrestricted, free from limitation; complete, perfect, free from imperfection.” It comes from Latin absolutus, past participle of absolvere, which means “to set free, acquit; complete, bring to an end; make separate.”

The word was first used in mid-15c to mean “lawfully begotten, born of parents legally married.” It stems from the past participle of Old French legitimer and directly from Medieval Latin legitimatus, the past participle of legitimare, which means “make lawful, declare to be lawful.”
