Disservice

Disservice means a damaging act, especially one committed unwittingly or with good intentions. It means an ill service, unhelpful, unkind, or harmful act.

The word was first adopted in the 1590s to mean “service resulting in harm rather than benefit, intentional or not.” It is thought to have been formed on an analogy of French desservice in 16c.

Unemployment
