What Is A Scrum Meeting? 

A scrum meeting, also known as daily scrum or stand-up, is usually scheduled every morning. It is a short meeting, typically 15 minutes, used to organize the work that needs to be completed in the next iteration. All scrum team members, including the product owner, scrum master, and development team, are participants. 

Scrum meetings aim to communicate a person’s work progress and a projected level of completion until the next scrum meeting. Through a set of three daily Scrum questions, they learn about the goals, work that needs completion, etc.

Teams evaluate their performance over the last 24 hours and the upcoming 24 hours’ potential by asking scrum questions routinely in the morning. Typically, scrum meeting questions focus on how the roadmap can be changed to yield better value and efficiency.

1. What did you do yesterday?

This question is asked to analyze the team’s commitment to given tasks and to gauge the team’s progress. Using this question, the team understands the progress and accomplishment of the current sprint.

  • If team members are clear on their tasks.
  • If they are spending their time on pointless pursuits, a day of meetings or laborious data entry, for instance.
  • The various working methods of each team member. For instance, Martha likes to take her time with a task to produce the highest quality results. On the other hand, Hilary is all about doing tasks swiftly and effectively.

2. What will you do today?

Eliminating pointless tasks is one of this question’s essential purposes. The list is purged of tasks that do not advance the team’s objective. And the day’s duties may be switched if the first query reveals any dependent changes. 

The Scrum master can determine what tasks will begin by asking this question. The team may be off course if they only work on ongoing projects rather than starting new ones frequently.

This question helps to: 

  • Keep everyone informed about their specific tasks. 
  • Identify and resolve any inadvertent task overlap. 
  • Uncover tasks that everyone assumed were being handled by someone else but were not.

3. Is there anything hindering your progress?

There could be several obstacles in the team’s path to success. For example, the team may not have access to the required technology, or it may not be functioning properly. The management would need to make the necessary arrangements in such a situation.

The programmers can also be required to attend a lot of pointless meetings. To enable the team to finish the work quickly, the scrum master works to remove any such bottlenecks.
